Selfie Blog Post

My name is Lauren Ebaugh, I'm 16 years old and a Junior. In my free time i enjoy hanging out with friends/family or drawing. My goals for the year are to become more creative when taking pictures, and having unique ideas. Expectation wise.. i expect to improve on my photo taking skills. In photography i personally think I'm best at photographing something that has meaning to me and being able to explain why i chose to photograph that object. I tend to have a weakness in coming up with cool angles and different ways to photograph things. When taking a landscape photo, the one object you are photography tends to be more of the main focus in the photo, rather than in a portrait photo there tends to be more focus points in the photo.

In this assignment i've learned that there are so many different ways and unique techniques to shoot photos. Like zooming in while taking a photo, writing with light, and capturing moments that happen so quickly its hard to really see whats happening. I really enjoyed these different opportunities and group photos.

motion planning

Ideas:
Lauren Ebaugh and Gina Silbaugh
Our ideas:
Blurred subject: slow shutter, have person moving . Use tripod
Panning: slide down stair rail. Use slow shutter speed, move the camera and don't use a tripod
Frozen : use water balloon/eggs/ flour. Fast shutter speed and use tripod
Zooming: Use something with good color and lettering. Fast shutter speed and tripod
Writing with light : draw around someone use fast shutter speed and tripod
Sparklers, medium iso to make the lights bright enough to see but not too bright
Bulb setting, writing with light, high ISO to make the lights stand out , make the car clear.

This shooting assignment was unique & i really enjoyed it, and would love to do it again. Next time is suggest we should keep the bulb open for longer so that we can capture more.

Lighting Final Critique

When i showed my mom my blog post of the photos i took of her my mom said she was surprised that i actually liked her. She was pleasantly surprised of what i had to say, and it was very touching and made her cry. My mom said she feels as if all the photos i took do represent her personality. Her favorite photo was the 4th one because she likes to do things she enjoys and that i captured her in that moment.

Lighting Final

For this project i photographed my mom because she is an important person in my life. When i was only 2 years old my mom and dad got divorced, so my whole life I've been raised by only my mom. Without my mom i would have no one to look up to, or have someone to cheer my up when needed. My mom has done everything for me throughout my life. Not only is she my mom but my best friend, we always do stuff together. I chose these poses because my mom is very funny and outgoing, and is always laughing or doing something stupid to make me laugh. My mom loves flying kites on her free time, and loves pretzels. This unit has made my photography improve, it was difficult but made it so i have to choose different lighting's, and even angles. Overall, this project was a good experience.

Lighting

While working with different types of light I've learned it's very important to focus on your subject closely and make sure there inst a glare, or lighting at weird angle. Lighting is an important thing when taking a picture, if it's too dark you can't see and if it's too light it makes it also difficult to see. if i were to complete this project again, i would work more with soft and hard lighting.

Silhouette

In this unit i enjoy using the non-traditional way of taking silhouette shots. Photoshop has a variety of options and things to choose from to edit your picture, i really like the set up and what photoshop has to offer with layers. The outcomes of my photos i think are pretty good, i could've done better with  the shape editing but otherwise, the outcomes are great.
